Welcome to The Down South House, a purpose-built student accommodation facility designed for aspiring Yacht crew of The Laundry Co. We understand the importance of creating a comfortable, convenient and safe living environment designed especially for students pursuing their dreams in the superyacht industry; our very own land yacht.
We have a crew house on our premises, designed to replicate the atmosphere and living conditions that yacht crew would experience while both onshore and aboard. It includes a shared living space, communal dining area, and comfortable shared student accommodation arrangements, just like they would find on a Superyacht, including a heated swimming pool and endless views of Table Mountain and Robben Island.
About Us
We are a married couple with extensive experience in the yachting industry, having served as yacht crew for a combined 25 years; after many years of sailing the world, we decided to settle back home and share our expertise and experiences with aspiring yacht stewardesses.
We have found that by providing an authentic crew house experience, we are able to prepare our students not just with practical skills but also with emotional and mental toughness, which is an essential skill for a successful career in the yachting industry. Our facility aims to give students the most authentic crew house experience possible, equipping them for their new, exciting journey ahead.
